What Happens in This Chapter
This is a short song by David. He tells God that he is not proud and does not chase after things too big for him. He says he has made his heart calm and quiet, like a child resting with his mother. Then he tells all of Israel to put their hope in the Lord forever.

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
1Lord, my heart is not proud. I do not look down on other people. I do not chase after big things. I do not reach for things too big for me.
2Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
2I have made myself calm and quiet inside. I am like a child who no longer needs milk and rests with his mother. That is how quiet I feel inside.
A "weaned child" is one who has stopped drinking milk. Such a child can sit with his mother and stay calm, instead of crying to be fed.
3Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.
3People of Israel, put your hope in the Lord. Do it now and keep doing it forever.
