Genesis 25:1-6

Abraham Marries Keturah; Her Six Sons

1Then Abraham married again. His new wife was named Keturah.

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

Abraham's first wife, Sarah, had died before this. That is why he married again.

2She had these sons with him: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

Each of these sons became the start of a whole family group. Later those groups of people were named after them.

3Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were the Asshurim, the Letushim, and the Leummim.

And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

4The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abidah, and Eldaah. All of these came from Keturah's family.

And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

Midian's family grew into a people called the Midianites. They show up again later in the Bible.

5Abraham gave everything he owned to Isaac.

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

In those days a father left his land and animals to one main son. Abraham chose Isaac.

6Abraham also had women who were like wives but had a lower place. He gave their sons gifts. While he was still alive, he sent those sons away from his son Isaac. They went east, to the land in the east.

But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

One of these women was a servant who lived with Abraham like a wife. She did not have the same place as a full wife. Her sons did not get the family land.
