Genesis 5:18-24

Born to Jared, Walks With God, Taken

18Jared lived 162 years. Then he had a son named Enoch.

And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

19After Enoch was born, Jared lived 800 more years. He had more sons and daughters.

And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

20Jared lived 962 years in all. Then he died.

And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

21Enoch lived 65 years. Then he had a son named Methuselah.

And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

22After Methuselah was born, Enoch walked with God for 300 years. He had more sons and daughters.

And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

"Walked with God" means he stayed close to God. It is like walking beside a friend every day.

23Enoch lived 365 years in all.

And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

24Enoch walked with God. Then he was not here anymore, because God took him.

And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

The other men in this list all died. The story says God took Enoch away instead.

Hebrews 11:5-6

Translated by Faith so He Did Not See Death

5Enoch trusted God. So God took him away, and he never died. People could not find him, because God had taken him. Before that, God said Enoch pleased him.

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Enoch lived a very long time ago. The Bible says he walked with God. God took him to be with him instead of letting him die.

6Without faith, no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that God is real. They must believe he rewards people who truly look for him.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Jude 1:14-15

Enoch's Prophecy of the Lord's Coming

14Enoch lived long ago. He was seventh in the family line from Adam. He told God's message about these men. He said, "Look! The Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of his holy ones."

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

Enoch was a man who lived very close to God. The Bible says God took him to be with him. "Holy ones" here means angels.

15"He will judge every person. He will show all who ignore God that they are guilty. They did wrong things against God. They also said hard words against him."

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Every passage here is the King James text. Nothing on this page retells the story; it only puts the pieces in order.
