Matthew
The first of the four accounts of Jesus' life, opening with his family line traced back to Abraham and David, and closing with his death, his rising, and his sending of the disciples out to all nations. Much of it is teaching set down in long blocks, including the Sermon on the Mount, a chapter of parables, and instructions to the twelve disciples, with healings, arguments with the Pharisees, and the week in Jerusalem in between. Matthew repeatedly stops the story to point out where something matches what the prophets had said.
Teaching Matthew? What each passage says, claim by claim, for every chapter.
