What Happens in This Chapter
This short last chapter tells what happened after the story. King Ahasuerus set taxes across his whole kingdom. Mordecai became the second most powerful man in Persia, and he used that power to help his own people, the Jews. The chapter points readers to the royal record books for the rest of the story.

And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.
1King Ahasuerus made everyone in his kingdom pay taxes. Even the lands far across the sea had to pay.
2And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?
2The king did many strong and mighty things. He also made Mordecai a very great man. All of this was written down in the record books of the kings of Media and Persia.
3For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
3Mordecai the Jew was second in power to King Ahasuerus. He was a leader among the Jews. His own people loved him and looked up to him. He worked for the good of his people. He spoke words of peace to them all.
The KJV says Mordecai sought "the wealth of his people." Back then "wealth" meant safety and wellbeing, not just money.
