1 Enoch 57

What Happens in This Chapter

Enoch sees another company of wagons with men riding on them, carried on the winds from the east and from the west toward the south. The noise of the wagons is noticed by the holy ones in heaven, the pillars of the earth are shaken out of place, and the sound is heard from one end of heaven to the other in a single day. All of them will bow down and worship the Lord of Spirits, and with that the second Parable ends.

After this I saw another large company of wagons, with men riding on them. They came on the winds from the east, and from the west toward the south.

1And it came to pass after this that I saw another host of wagons, and men riding thereon, and coming on the winds from the east, and from the west to the south.

2The noise of their wagons was heard. When this uproar happened, the holy ones in heaven took notice of it, and the pillars of the earth were shaken out of their place. The sound of it was heard from one end of heaven to the other, all in one day.

2And the noise of their wagons was heard, and when this turmoil took place the holy ones from heaven remarked it, and the pillars of the earth were moved from their place, and the sound thereof was heard from the one end of heaven to the other, in one day.

"Remarked it" in Charles's wording does not mean they said something about it. In older English it meant they noticed it or took note of it.

3And they will all fall down and worship the Lord of Spirits. This is the end of the second Parable.

3And they shall all fall down and worship the Lord of Spirits. And this is the end of the second Parable.

A "Parable" here is the name for one of the long sections of this part of the book. This line marks the close of the second of them.
