Chapter 100
Psalm 100 is a short song of thanks. It calls everyone on earth to praise God with joy, to come to his temple singing, and to remember that God made them and cares for them like a shepherd cares for sheep. It ends by giving the reason for all this praise: God is good, his love lasts forever, and he keeps his promises to every generation.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
1Shout for joy to the LORD, everyone on earth!
"All ye lands" means all the people of the earth, not the ground itself.
2Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
4Come through his gates giving thanks. Come into his courtyards with praise. Thank him and speak well of his name.
The gates and courts are the outer entrance and open yards of the temple in Jerusalem, where people gathered to worship.
5For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
5The LORD is good. His love never ends. He keeps his promises to every generation, on and on.
