And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.

1On the first day of the seventh month, meet together for a holy day. Do not do your everyday work. On that day you will blow the trumpets.

2And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish:

2Burn a gift for the LORD, and its smoke will smell good to him. Bring one young bull, one ram, and seven lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

3And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram,

3With them bring fine flour mixed with oil. Bring three measures of flour with the bull. Bring two measures with the ram.

NoteThe King James Bible calls this a "meat offering," but no meat is in it. In 1611, "meat" meant any kind of food. This gift was flour mixed with oil. Each "measure" (the old words say "tenth deal") was about two quarts of flour.

4And one tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs:

4Bring one measure of flour with each of the seven lambs.

5And one kid of the goats for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you:

5Also bring one young goat as a gift for sin. It makes things right between you and God.

6Beside the burnt offering of the month, and his meat offering, and the daily burnt offering, and his meat offering, and their drink offerings, according unto their manner, for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.

6Bring all this besides the gift for the new month and besides the gift you burn every day. Bring their flour gifts and their wine gifts too, the usual way. The smoke of these fires smells good to the LORD.

NoteA wine gift, called a "drink offering," meant pouring out wine beside the altar as a gift to God.

7And ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein:

7On the tenth day of this seventh month, meet together for a holy day. Go without food and make your hearts humble. Do no work at all that day.

Note"Afflict your souls" meant going without food for the day and being sorry for wrong things you had done.

8But ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD for a sweet savour; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year; they shall be unto you without blemish:

11Also bring one young goat as a gift for sin. Bring it besides the sin gift that makes things right, besides the daily burnt gift, and besides its flour and wine gifts.

12And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days:

12On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, meet together for a holy day. Do not do your everyday work. Hold a happy feast for the LORD for seven days.

13And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish:

13Burn a gift for the LORD, and its smoke will smell good to him. Bring thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

14And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenth deals to each ram of the two rams,

14With them bring fine flour mixed with oil. Bring three measures with each of the thirteen bulls. Bring two measures with each of the two rams.

15And a several tenth deal to each lamb of the fourteen lambs:

16And one kid of the goats for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, his meat offering, and his drink offering.

16Also bring one young goat as a gift for sin. Bring it besides the daily burnt gift and its flour and wine gifts.

17And on the second day ye shall offer twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without spot:

17On the second day, bring twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

18And their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

18Bring the right amount of flour and wine for the bulls, the rams, and the lambs. Follow the usual rule for how much to bring.

19And one kid of the goats for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, and the meat offering thereof, and their drink offerings.

19Also bring one young goat as a gift for sin. Bring it besides the daily burnt gift and its flour and wine gifts.

20And on the third day eleven bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish;

20On the third day, bring eleven bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

21And their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

21Bring the right amount of flour and wine for the bulls, the rams, and the lambs. Follow the usual rule for how much to bring.

22And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, and his meat offering, and his drink offering.

23And on the fourth day ten bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish:

23On the fourth day, bring ten bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

24Their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

26And on the fifth day nine bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without spot:

26On the fifth day, bring nine bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

27And their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

27Bring the right amount of flour and wine for the bulls, the rams, and the lambs. Follow the usual rule for how much to bring.

28And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, and his meat offering, and his drink offering.

28Also bring one goat as a gift for sin. Bring it besides the daily burnt gift and its flour and wine gifts.

29And on the sixth day eight bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish:

29On the sixth day, bring eight bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

30And their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

30Bring the right amount of flour and wine for the bulls, the rams, and the lambs. Follow the usual rule for how much to bring.

31And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, his meat offering, and his drink offering.

31Also bring one goat as a gift for sin. Bring it besides the daily burnt gift and its flour and wine gifts.

32And on the seventh day seven bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish:

32On the seventh day, bring seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

33And their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

35On the eighth day ye shall have a solemn assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein:

35On the eighth day, meet together for a special closing day. Do not do your everyday work.

36But ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: one bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first year without blemish:

36Burn a gift for the LORD, and its smoke will smell good to him. Bring one bull, one ram, and seven lambs that are one year old. Every animal must be healthy and perfect.

37Their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullock, for the ram, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner:

37Bring the right amount of flour and wine for the bull, the ram, and the lambs. Follow the usual rule for how much to bring.

38And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, and his meat offering, and his drink offering.

38Also bring one goat as a gift for sin. Bring it besides the daily burnt gift and its flour and wine gifts.

39These things ye shall do unto the LORD in your set feasts, beside your vows, and your freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your meat offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.

39Bring all these gifts to the LORD on your special feast days. Bring them besides the gifts you promised him. Bring them besides the gifts you give just because you want to. These include burnt gifts, flour gifts, wine gifts, and friendship gifts.

40And Moses told the children of Israel according to all that the LORD commanded Moses.

40So Moses told the people of Israel everything the LORD had told him.
