Nehemiah

The rebuilding of Jerusalem's wall, told mostly in the first person by Nehemiah, a Jew who served as cupbearer to the Persian king. He gets permission to go home, organizes the work crews, and keeps building while neighboring officials mock, plot an attack, and try to lure him into a trap. The second half covers what happened after the wall went up: a public reading of the Law of Moses, a written agreement about how the people would live, lists of who settled where, and the reforms Nehemiah enforced when he came back from a trip to the king.
