Job 25
What Happens in This Chapter
Bildad, one of Job's three friends, gives a very short speech. He says God is powerful and rules over everything. He asks how any person could ever be clean or right next to God. He says even the moon and stars are not bright or pure compared to God, so people are much less so.

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
1Then Bildad, a man from the land of Shuah, answered Job. He said:
2Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places.
2God rules over all, and people stand in awe of him. He keeps peace in the high places of heaven.
3Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?
3Can anyone count God's armies? Is there anyone his light does not shine on?
4How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
4So how can a person ever be right with God? How can anyone born of a woman be clean?
"Born of a woman" is an old way of saying "any human being at all."
5Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.
5Look. Even the moon is not bright next to God. Even the stars are not pure when he looks at them.
6How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?
6So a person is even less pure. People are only like small worms in the ground.
