Hosea

The prophet Hosea's marriage to an unfaithful wife, used as a picture of Israel turning away from the LORD. Their three children are given names that carry the message to the nation, and the rest of the book is God's case against Israel: idols at the hilltop shrines, priests who reject knowledge, kings chosen without him, and deals bought from Egypt and Assyria. The warnings of ruin keep turning back into promises to heal, to take Israel back, and to love them freely.
