Ezra

The story of Jewish exiles going home from Babylon to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. Persian kings issue the decrees, neighbors write letters to stop the work, and the building halts and starts again until the temple is finished. The last chapters follow Ezra, a priest and scribe, who travels up with a second group and deals with the men who had married foreign wives. Much of the book is lists of names and copies of official letters.
