Daniel
Stories and visions set in the courts of Babylon and Persia, where Daniel and three other young captives from Jerusalem are trained to serve foreign kings. The first half tells what happens to them there: dreams no one else can explain, a golden statue they will not bow to, a blazing furnace, writing on a palace wall, and a night in a den of lions. The second half is made up of visions Daniel sees himself, beasts coming up out of the sea, a ram and a goat, long stretches of counted time, and kings who rise and fall until the kingdom is given to someone else.
