2 Samuel
The story of David's forty years as king, from the news of Saul's death to the last years of his reign. He unites the tribes, takes Jerusalem, moves the ark there, and wins wars on every side; then he takes Bathsheba, has her husband killed, and spends the rest of the book dealing with what happens inside his own family, including his son Absalom's revolt. Along with the narrative there are songs, a list of David's mighty men, and accounts of famine, plague, and battles with the Philistines.
