2 Esdras
A set of visions given to Esdras, a captive far from a ruined Jerusalem, who argues with God and with the angel Uriel about why Israel suffers while Babylon prospers. He is answered with pictures instead of plain answers: a mourning woman who turns into a city, an eagle with twelve wings and three heads, a man who rises out of the sea. The opening and closing chapters are different in kind, made up of speeches announcing judgment on the nations, and the book itself is not in every Bible.
